The Stockholm3 risk score is a numerical value that indicates the probability that a man has clinically significant prostate cancer. The test is analyzed in a central database where a validated model calculates an individual risk.

How is the result interpreted?

The risk score result is stated as a percentage – e.g. 12% – which corresponds to the risk of finding clinically significant prostate cancer during biopsy. The higher the percentage, the greater the risk.

Why is the risk score important?

The Stockholm3 risk score provides a more accurate and individualized risk assessment than a traditional PSA test alone. A risk score reduces unnecessary biopsies and increases the detection of dangerous cancer that may otherwise be missed.

When do I need to act on my risk score?

If the risk score value is above 11%, further investigation is often recommended, for example with MRI or biopsy, but it is always a doctor who makes an individual assessment.
