Gain a clearer picture of your health during pregnancy
Are you expecting a baby? Gravidkollen is a health check that analyses 28 selected health markers that may be particularly relevant during pregnancy, providing a broad overview of your health.
The test can help identify signs of anaemia, nutritional deficiencies, abnormal blood sugar levels, and changes in liver and thyroid function. This gives you a better basis for monitoring your health and, if necessary, discussing the results with your midwife or doctor.
Important health markers during pregnancy
The body undergoes many changes during pregnancy. Monitoring relevant blood values can help detect potential abnormalities at an early stage and ensure that they are assessed in the appropriate context.
All test results are reviewed by a licensed doctor, who provides you with personalised medical feedback.
What is included in Gravidkollen?
The Gravidkollen health check includes blood tests covering areas that are particularly relevant during pregnancy:
- Complete blood count: A complete blood count measures haemoglobin, red and white blood cells, and platelets, among other parameters. The test may reveal signs of anaemia or other abnormalities in the blood.
- Pregnancy-related hormones: Progesterone, prolactin, oestradiol and hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) are hormones that perform different functions during pregnancy. Progesterone helps prepare and maintain the lining of the uterus, while prolactin prepares the breast tissue for breastfeeding. Oestradiol is a form of oestrogen that is produced in increasing amounts during pregnancy. hCG is produced soon after the fertilised egg implants in the uterus and helps maintain progesterone production during early pregnancy. hCG levels vary depending on the stage of pregnancy and must therefore be interpreted alongside symptoms and other medical information.
- Blood sugar: The test provides information about your blood sugar levels and may indicate impaired glucose metabolism and the need for further assessment for gestational diabetes.
- Cardiovascular health: Blood lipid testing provides information about your lipid profile. As blood lipid levels can change naturally during pregnancy, this is taken into account when interpreting the results.
- Liver function: Liver markers are analysed to detect potential abnormalities in liver function.
- Nutrients: Analysis of selected vitamins and minerals may identify signs of deficiencies that could be important to monitor during pregnancy.
- Thyroid function: Your thyroid levels are tested to detect abnormalities that may affect your metabolism and pregnancy.
- Inflammation: CRP is analysed to detect signs of ongoing inflammation or infection. An abnormal result must always be assessed alongside any symptoms.
A complement to maternity care and pregnancy insurance
Pregnancy insurance can provide financial security. Gravidkollen gives you insight into several important health markers. You receive digital access to your test results together with a medical assessment from a doctor. If any abnormal values are detected, you can share the results with your midwife or treating doctor for further assessment.
Gravidkollen is a complement to, not a replacement for, routine maternity care. Always contact a healthcare professional if you have concerns, develop new symptoms or require urgent medical attention.
