Heart and vascular biomarkers

Heart and blood vessel biomarkers are specific substances or indicators that can be measured in the blood to evaluate the health and function of the cardiovascular system. These biomarkers provide valuable information about the risk, diagnosis, and management of various heart and blood vessel conditions.

BP

Blood pressure

When the blood is pumped out of the heart into the body, what is called blood pressure occurs. Blood pressure is a vital process in the body because it controls the flow of oxygen and nutrients to all tissues and organs.

RBC

Erythrocytes RBC

Red blood cells erythrocytes are the most common type of blood cells in humans. These are responsible, among other things, for transporting oxygen and removing carbon dioxide from the body.

EVF

Hematocrit, EVF

Hematocrit, EVF, a percentage of red blood cells in the blood, shows oxygen transport and health.

HBM

Hemoglobin mass

Hemoglobin mass is affected by several factors such as number of red blood cells, size and amount of hemoglobin mass in each cell. Higher hemoglobin mass results in better oxygen delivery and reduced fatigue during physical activity.

LPA

Lipoprotein Lp(a)

Lipoprotein Lp(a) is of particular interest because high levels of Lp(a) in the blood have been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease including heart attacks and strokes.

BNP

NT-proBNP

P-NT-proBNP is a marker used to diagnose and monitor heart failure. It is released from the heart upon increased filling pressure, and high levels often indicate heart failure. P-NT-proBNP has a high negative predictive value, meaning that low levels can effectively rule out heart failure. The marker is particularly useful in acute care situations for rapid diagnosis and can also contribute to improving treatment management and prognosis assessment in patients with heart failure.

RBC

Reticulocytes

Reticulocytes are immature red blood cells that develop in the bone marrow. They are important for measuring the body's ability to produce new red blood cells and can be used to evaluate bone marrow function and in the diagnosis of various blood disorders.

RCH

Rtc(B)- MCH

Rtc(B)- MCH (hemoglobin in reticulocytes) is a medical test that measures the level of reticulocytes in the blood and is carried out when diagnosing iron deficiency or increased need for iron.
